Vol. 330 No. 1

Written Answers. - Oranmore (County Galway) Sewerage Scheme.

435.

asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals his Department have for a sewerage scheme at Oranmore, County Galway.

436.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the proposed public sewerage scheme for Oranmore, County Galway.

With the permission of an Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 435 and 436 together.

Preliminary proposals for the Oranmore sewerage scheme have been approved in principle by my Department. This approval was subject to Galway County Council carrying out further investigations. These investigations are in progress, and have been the subject of a number of discussions between my Department's and the council's technical advisers.

Once these investigations have been completed and certain technical aspects of the scheme have been agreed, the council may then proceed to prepare contract documents for the scheme.
