Vol. 330 No. 1

Written Answers. - Forestry Policy.

450.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if it is the policy of his Department to acquire arable land for forestry and to compete against local farmers for such land.

Cavan-Monaghan): It is not departmental policy to operate on the lines mentioned. This is achieved by the price levels that apply to land under consideration for acquisition for forestry purposes and by the checks carried out to ensure that, as far as possible, agricultural land is excluded from such purchases.
