asked the Taoiseach those areas of law at present being examined by the Law Reform Commission.

asked the Taoiseach those areas of law in respect of which the Law Reform Commission has produced final reports.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos 6 and 7 together.

The areas of law under examination by the Law Reform Commission are referred to in their First Programme for Law Reform and in their annual reports, which were laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas.

The Commission have produced one Final Report, Report No. 1-1980: Family Law, and this was presented to the Houses of the Oireachtas on 23 February 1981.

For convenience of Deputies, I am circulating with the Official Report a list of the areas at present under examination by the Law Reform Commission and of the matters dealt with in their Final Report on Family Law.

The areas of the law that are presently being examined by the Law Reform Commission are: (1) Civil Liability for Animals; (2) Nullity of Marriage; (3) Divorce a mensa et thoro; (4) Restitution of Conjugal Rights; (5) Jactitation of Marriage; (6) Illegitimacy; (7) Civil Liability for Defective Premises; (8) The Hearsay Rule in the Law of Evidence; (9) Proof of Foreign Public Documents in Domestic Proceedings; (10) The Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters; (11) The Recognition of Foreign Divorces and Legal Separations; (12) The Recognition of Foreign Nullity or Annulment Decrees; (13) The Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters; (14) The Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Decisions Relating to Maintenance Obligations; (15) The Law Applicable to Maintenance Obligations in the Conflict of Laws; (16) The Law Applicable to Matrimonial Property Regimes in the Conflict of Laws; (17) Abduction of Children Abroad (“Childnapping”); (18) Competence and Compellability of Spouses as Witnesses in Legal Proceedings; (19) Contracts of Minors; (20) Liability for Civil Wrongs of Minors; (21) Protection of Privacy; (22) The Vagrancy Acts and Related Acts; (23) The Dublin Police Acts and Related Acts.

The Final Report No. 1-1980: Family Law dealt with: (1) Criminal Conversation; (2) Enticement and Harbouring of a Spouse or Child; (3) Loss of Consortium; (4) Personal Injury to a Child; (5) Seduction of a Child; (6) Matrimonal Property; (7) Breach of Promise of Marriage; and was presented to the Houses of the Oireachtas on 23 February 1981.
