Vol. 330 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Sanction.

580.

asked the Minister for Education when he expects to sanction a grant of £50,000 which was passed by his predecessor and which has already been committed by a club (details supplied) in Dublin in order to commence the scheme.

On 28 September, my Department received the sanction of the Department of Finance for the commitment of £4.05 million from the extended Employment Guarantee Fund, towards the implementation of a community, youth, recreational and employment programme which will have a total fund of an excess of £5 million. No allocation has as yet been approved from these funds.

Interested groups, organisations and clubs will very shortly be invited to apply for grant aid under a new scheme being launched by this Department and an official application form and details of the scheme will be forwarded to Ierne Social and Sports Club.

Until the applications have been received and reviewed, however, I am not in a position to say which locations will qualify for grant aid. It is expected that a decision will be made on this case within a matter of weeks following receipt of completed application forms.
