asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in relation to the installation of settlement tanks and a filter plant for Buncrana water supply, County Donegal.

In November 1980 Buncrana Urban District Council submitted preliminary proposals for enlargement of the existing filter works in Buncrana by the installation of settlement tanks and additional filter plant. The estimated cost of the work is £165,000.

The proposals have been under discussion between the technical advisers of my Department, the urban council and Donegal County Council. Comments from the local authority's consultant engineer were received in my Department on 1 October 1981. These comments are now under examination.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction a tender for the Taughmon regional water supply, Mullingar, County Westmeath.

The proposal of Westmeath County Council on the acceptance of a tender for the civil works for the Taughmon water supply scheme was received in my Department on 14 September 1981 and is under examination. I am not at present in a position to say when a decision will issue to the local authority in the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he proposes to release Belmullet regional water scheme (stage I) County Mayo for contract.

Approval to the contract documents for this scheme issued to Mayo County Council on 22 May 1981.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in relation to the proposed Glenflesk / Gortacooish / Shroneaboy group water supply scheme in the parish of Glenflesk, County Kerry.

The present position regarding the Glenflesk/Gortacooish/Shroneaboy group water scheme is that the group have been asked to prepare a design for the scheme and to submit it to my Department for examination and approval.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he expects to be in a position to approve working drawings and contract documents for the Castlemaine sewerage scheme, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Approval to the preparation of contract documents for this scheme was conveyed to the local authority on 11 May 1981. I understand that these documents are in the course of preparation by the council's consultants.
