Vol. 330 No. 4

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin North-West Unemployment.

3.

(Dublin North-West) asked the Taoiseach the incidence of unemployment in the constituency of Dublin north-west compared with the national average.

The records available do not permit compilation of the information requested by the Deputy.

Live register totals are available only for each local employment office and it is not feasible to allocate these to specific Dáil constituencies.

(Dublin North-West): In view of the allegation that the Dublin North-West constituency has about four times the average unemployment rate, has the Minister any plans for a crash employment programme in that constituency?

I am not aware of this allegation. We have no plans at present because we do not know the correct figures. There are six employment offices in Dublin. If the Deputy wants further information on the figures for individual exchanges I will send them on to him.
