Vol. 330 No. 9

Written Answers. - Establishment of Industries.

525.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the number of applications to set up industries which were before the IDA at 1 May 1981; the total job potential of these applications; how many were subsequently withdrawn; and the total job potential of the applications which were withdrawn.

At any one time, the Industrial Development Authority have under consideration a very large number of applications from promoters for the establishment of new industries from overseas and domestic sources, or for the extension of existing industries. The stage of development of these applications varies widely from preliminary inquiries to proposals at an advanced stage of negotiation. The Deputy will appreciate, therefore, that the information requested is not available in any meaningful form.
