Vol. 330 No. 9

Written Answers. - Revenue Commissioners' Branch Offices.

592.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider locating a branch office of the Revenue Commissioners at Clonmel, County Tipperary to service Clonmel and the surrounding areas which at present are serviced by the Waterford office.

The general position relating to the extension of the existing facilities available to taxpayers who are finding it difficult to call at or contact tax offices during normal working hours is being examined by the Revenue Commissioners. The position of taxpayers in the Clonmel area will be borne in mind during the course of the continuing consideration.

593.

asked the Minister for Finance when he proposes to commence the building of the new Revenue Commissioners' office at Nenagh, County Tipperary as a commitment was given that construction would commence this year.

This proposed office building for the Revenue Commissioners is included in the Government's plans for the decentralisation of Government offices. These plans are being reviewed as part of the general review of expenditure programmes which the Government put in hands on assuming office. I expect that the review will be completed shortly.
