Vol. 330 No. 10

Written Answers. - School Building and Improvement Programme.

614.

asked the Minister for Education when a grant for improvements to Caherelly national school, County Limerick will be paid.

The payment of grants towards the cost of approved improvement works at Caherelly national school, County Limerick, is a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works. Payment was made on 29 October last in respect of the provision of a tarmac play area.

615.

asked the Minister for Education when work on the proposed new school at Roxboro, County Limerick will commence.

My Department has sanctioned a grant towards the cost of the proposed new school at Roxboro, County Limerick, and the arrangements for its erection are being made by the Commissioners of Public Works. I understand from the commissioners that they will shortly commence the preparation of working drawings on completion of which they will arrange for the preparation of a bill of quantities. When the bill has been completed, the invitation of tenders may be authorised.

It is not possible, at this stage, to state when work on the new school may commence, but I have asked that no time should be lost in progressing this scheme.

616.

asked the Minister for Education when the grant for reconstruction work on Bohermore national school, County Limerick will be paid.

A report regarding the improvement works carried out at Bohermore national school, County Limerick has been furnished by the Commissioners of Public Works on 30 September 1981 and is under consideration in my Department. I expect that the Department will be in a position to sanction a grant at an early date.
