Vol. 330 No. 12

Written Answers. - Sport Grant Applications.

600.

asked the Minister for Education if an application has been received from Caherlistrane Community Centre; and, if so, if this centre has been passed for a grant.

An application for assistance towards the construction of a community sports centre at Caherlistrane under the Temporary Grant Scheme for Youth Employment was received in my Department. The application could not be accepted as the project was already being assisted under AnCO's Community Youth Training Programme.

More recently, Caherlistrane Development Committee sought an official application form for grant-aid under the newly established Community, Youth, Recreational and Employment Programme. The appropriate application form and details of the scheme have issued in this case.

Until all the applications have been received and examined, however, I am not in a position to say which projects will qualify for grant-aid.

601.

asked the Minister for Education the number of applications received for sport grants; the centres which received these grants; and the amount of money available for expenditure on such grants this year.

As the Deputy will no doubt be aware, I have recently announced a scheme of grant-aid towards the implementation of a Community Youth, Recreational and Employment Programme.

It is open to all interested groups, organisations and clubs to apply for assistance under this scheme and official application forms and details of the scheme may be obtained from my Department.

Until the applications have been received and reviewed I shall not be in a position to say which projects may be grant-aided.
