Vol. 330 No. 13

Written Answers. - Shannon Airport Projects.

553.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if the potential of Shannon Airport as a headquarters for location of office type and service type projects has been promoted by SFADCo; and, if so, if he will make a statement on the matter.

During 1980 Shannon Development secured 20 service type projects with a total job potential of 500 for the industrial estate. This was the final year in which Shannon tax relief could be offered.

The agreement of the EEC Commission was obtained in August 1981 to the extension of the 10 per cent manufacturing tax to new non-manufacturing companies which were locating on the estate which would contribute to the use and development of the airport. This incentive is now being vigorously marketed by SFADCo with the aim of substantially increasing white-collar employment at Shannon.
