Vol. 330 No. 14

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 10 (Votes Nos. 51, 29 and 41) and No. 11 (Resumed). By agreement the debate on Vote No. 51 will be concluded not later than 1 p.m. and the debates on Votes Nos. 29 and 41 will be concluded not later than 5 p.m.

A Cheann Comhairle, I tabled questions for written answer which dealt with the interrelationship behind the decision to run down the Whitegate Oil Refinery, the amenity order on Dublin Bay and the fact that I, as a public representative, cannot examine the files relating to the Dublin Bay Oil Refinery. I am legally entitled to do that. One question was thrown out altogether. I know you have the right to do this, Sir, but where can I get the truth? I am trying to get at the truth.

I sympathise with you but, unfortunately that cannot be raised on the Order of Business. You will have to find some other means of raising the matter.

If I cannot get the truth in the highest forum of the land, where can I find it?

Unfortunately, I cannot help you on that; it does not arise on the Order of Business.

I was elected to get at the truth behind these matters.
