Vol. 331 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Bay Amenity Scheme.

595.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, following his refusal to sanction the Dublin Bay special amenity order, large scale development could now take place; and if he has requested the local authorities concerned to prepare a new special amenity scheme.

With regard to proposals for development in the Dublin Bay area, I would refer the Deputies to my reply of 18 November 1981 to Question No. 565.

In notifying Dublin Corporation of my decision in relation to the Dublin Bay Special Amenity Area Order, 1977, I suggested that the entire area within the bay which meets the prescribed criteria should be dealt with on a co-ordinated planning basis as regards the making of one or more special amenity area orders, and that the question should be pursued in association with the other local authorities and in consultation with the other interests involved. I also suggested that priority consideration should be given, in the context of co-ordinated planning, to the making of an order as respects the Bull Island and contiguous areas.
