Vol. 331 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Appointments.

27.

asked the Minister for the Public Service the number of non-established civil servants appointed in his Department since 30 June 1981; and if he will give their names, terms of appointment, duties and rate of remuneration in each case.

I assume the Deputy did not intend to include appointments made (a) as a result of competitions conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners and (b) to posts listed as scheduled occupations in the First Schedule to the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956. On that basis the following is the relevant information: (a) Mr. Brian Johnston, special adviser, salary £18,129 per annum (b) Mrs. Margaret Shiel, personal assistant on general office duties, salary £6,678 per annum.

From what position has the Minister's adviser been seconded?

Mr. Brian Johnston was Wicklow County Secretary and has been seconded from that office for the period of this Government.
