Vol. 331 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ennis Driving Test Centre.

595.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details in relation to the driving test centre at Ennis, County Clare; if a centre will be re-established there; and, if so, the reason for the delay in its establishment.

Due to circumstances outside my control, the premises which had been in use as a driving test centre up to 1 May 1981 ceased to be available for that purpose. Efforts to secure other accommodation have been proceeding and replacement premises will be made available shortly to my Department by the Office of Public Works. I am confident, therefore, that driving tests at Ennis can be resumed early in the New Year.

In the meantime several other driving test centres are at the disposal of candidates, including those at Shannon, Kilrush, Limerick and Loughrea.
