asked the Minister for Labour if he will give details of the redundancies notified to his Department since 30 June 1981; and the companies and the number involved in each case.

The number of proposed redundancies notified to my Department under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1979, from 1 July 1981 to 31 October 1981 totalled 5,151.

Information in relation to individual companies is regarded as confidential and it is not the practice to publish information in such a form as to identify the individual companies concerned.

Statistics of notified redundancies under the Redundancy Payments Acts are available by employment sector. The relevant statistics for the period mentioned are as follows:—
