Vol. 331 No. 3

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

562.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if disability benefit will be paid to an applicant (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if an appeal has been arranged in his case.

The person concerned was in receipt of disability benefit from February 1975 to 19 September 1981. Payment was disallowed after that date following examination by a medical referee who considered him capable of work.

He appealed against the disallowance of benefit and, in connection with his appeal, he was examined by a different medical referee on 4 November 1981, who also considered him to be capable of work. The appeals officer proposes to hold an oral hearing of the case during week commencing 14 December 1981. The claimant will be notified of the date and venue for the hearing as soon as the final arrangements have been completed.
