Vol. 331 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tralee Post Office.

16.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the up-to-date position regarding the provision of a sorting office for Tralee Post Office, County Kerry.

It had until very recently been planned to provide a new sorting office at Monavalley, but a legal difficulty prevented the premises in mind from being acquired. My Department are not aware of any other suitable site or property on the market and arrangements have been made to have an architectural study carried out to establish the feasibility of extending the existing sorting office.

The Minister of State must be well aware that the facilities in the sorting office in Tralee are completely inadequate and it is important that a new sorting office be purchased for them. As that new sorting office was purchased by the previous Minister, will the Minister of State ensure now that that sorting office is made available to the post office in Tralee as soon as possible?

I will have that looked at.
