Vol. 331 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Service.

19.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make arrangements to have a telephone kiosk erected at Drishaghaun, Cloghbrack, Clonbur, County Galway.

The answer is yes. There are, however, over 800 kiosks included in the current programme for provision of kiosks throughout the country and it may be some considerable time therefore before the kiosk at Drishaghaun, which was included in the programme only recently, is provided.

Will the Minister of State give me a date, any date? Just name the date?

Prior to leaving office the Minister of State, Deputy Killilea, directed that telephone kiosks be provided in 18 places in County Galway, mostly in west Galway and in the city. This was one of them. No money was provided.

(Interruptions.)

Question No. 20.

A Cheann Comhairle——

I have gone to the next question.

Surely I am entitled to ask one supplementary on that.

If you do not ask many, I will allow that.

Is the Minister of State aware that his predecessor erected telephone kiosks where there will be no telephone lines for the next 20 years?

And most directives were given in the final days of the Minister of State's period in office.

20.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the position regarding the public telephone kiosk proposed for Lettercran, Tievemore, County Donegal.

There are no proposals at present to provide a public telephone kiosk at this location.

21.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the provision of a public telephone kiosk at The Turnipin Cottages area of County Dublin.

A telephone kiosk will be provided in this area shortly.

What does the Minister mean by shortly?

As soon as possible, instructions have been given to have it provided.
