Vol. 331 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Service.

39.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the subscribers in Drangan, County Tipperary will be provided with automatic telephone service.

It is hoped to provide automatic telephone service at Drangan about the middle of 1983.

40.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when he proposes to allow Cork County Council to commence work on the access road to the site of the satellite station at Elfordstown, Midleton, County Cork.

It is expected that a contract for the necessary works will be arranged with Cork County Council within the next few weeks.

Is it true that the advertisement for the contract will be issued in January?

I have not got the information but I will convey it to the Deputy.

41.

Mr. Doherty and Mr. Leyden

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the North Roscommon area will have a fully automatic telephone service.

The information requested by the Deputies has been prepared in the form of a tabular statement which I propose circulating with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Note:—Forecasts for the provision of automatic service are based on the assumption that contract dates for buildings, equipment etc. are adhered to within reasonable limits.

Are all my replies to be given in tabular form? This is the third tabular statement I have been given.

I assure the Deputy there is no discrimination against him.

Surely the Minister can say whether the work is proceeding and whether it will be completed in 1982 or 1983.

The reply is too detailed.

I accept it is too detailed for the Minister.

It is not unusual for replies such as this to be circulated with the Official Report because of their tabular content. I am doing only what it has been the practice to do, and the Deputy has been long enough in the House to understand it.

42.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

It is unlikely that it will be possible to provide the service for at least a year.

The lady applied in October 1980. There is a long waiting list.

43.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it will be possible to provide a telephone service for a GAA club (details supplied) in Dublin.

About the middle of next year.

44.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be erected at Barry Cross, Brosna, County Kerry.

Late in 1982.
