Vol. 331 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sub-Post Offices.

45.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will sanction a sub-post office for the Killinarden/Knockmore area, Tallaght, County Dublin.

It is proposed to open a sub-post office at Killinarden as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made; applications for the postmaster appointment will be invited from suitable candidates at an early date.

46.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will sanction a sub-post office for Orwell Park Estate, Templeogue, Dublin, having regard to the fact that the present post offices serving the area are inadequate to cope with the increase in population there in recent years and that many of the residents in Orwell Park and the adjoining estates, particularly the senior members of the community and mothers with young children, find the location of the present post offices most inconvenient.

47.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give favourable consideration to the request of the Orwell Park Residents Association, Templeogue, Dublin 12, for a sub-post office there.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 46 and 47 together. The post offices at Perrystown and Templeogue are each less than a mile from Orwell Park Estate and are considered to be adequate to cater for present postal needs. However, the need for an additional post office in the area generally will be kept under review as further development takes place.
