asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs whether he will consider withdrawing the credentials of the Irish consular representative in El Salvador as a mark of disapproval of the conduct of the Government there.
Written Answers. - Irish Consul in El Salvador.

Minister for Foreign Affairs (Professor Dooge)
The Honorary Consul of Ireland in El Salvador was appointed to look after Irish interests, especially that of our citizens, in that country. He has no diplomatic or political function. As the presence or absence of an honorary consul in a particular country does not imply either approval or disapproval of the Government of that country, it is not considered appropriate to withdraw the credentials of the Honorary Consul of Ireland in El Salvador.
