Vol. 331 No. 7

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

650.

asked the Minister for the Environment if and when it is intended to raise the maximum income limit in respect of local authority loan applicants.

I have no proposals at present to raise the qualifying income limit for local authority house purchase loans. I am, however, keeping the matter under review in my Department.

651.

(Wexford) asked the Minister for the Environment when he will provide sufficient moneys for the continuation of the house building programme to Enniscorthy Urban Council, County Wexford.

Following the Government's decision to provide an additional £30 million for the local authority housing programme, Enniscorthy Urban District Council was notified on the 31 August 1981, of an additional allocation of £50,000, bringing to £235,000 their total allocation for local authority housing for the year 1981. This was the maximum allocation that could be made in the current year having regard to the resources available and the needs position in the various local authority areas.

Enniscorthy Urban District Council, in common with all other housing authorities, will be notified in due course of their capital allocation for 1982, when claims from all authorities for capital have been examined in my Department.
