Vol. 331 No. 9

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

1.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Galway has not been given a telephone to date even though the deposit was paid in March 1980.

When advance payment was collected in March 1981 it was expected that service would be provided within about three months. Regrettably this was not possible because of the extensive linework required to meet this application and the large volume of engineering work on hands in the district. The work is now in hand and it is expected that service will be provided within the next month or so. A refund of the advance payment was offered to the applicant but was not accepted. Acceptance would not have added to the delay.
