Vol. 331 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

607.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when the extra children's allowance will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath who has not received payment since March 1981 for her school-going daughter.

An extended children's allowance was paid to the person concerned in respect of her school-going daughter up to June 1981. Due to an oversight the allowance for that child did not issue when the 1981-1982 books were being renewed. A payable order for £54.00 in respect of arrears due from July 1981 to December 1981 when the child attained the age of 18 years will issue on 11 December 1981.

608.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason the payment of disability benefit has ceased in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

The person concerned was in receipt of disability benefit from 1965 to 16 November 1981. At that stage her claim was being considered for transfer to invalidity pension. Due to an oversight, however, payment was suspended temporarily. Payment has since been resumed and all benefit due to 9 December has been issued.

The claimant is being transferred to invalidity pension as from 10 December 1981 and a pension order book is being issued to the designated post office for collection by her.

609.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason disability benefit in respect of the period 8 to 25 May 1981 and injury benefit due since July 1981 have not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 8 May to 25 May 1981, after which date he was certified fit to resume work. Due to an oversight, however, payment did not issue at the time. All disability benefit due on the claim has now been paid.

He claimed occupational injury benefit for the period 9 July 1981 to 15 July, after which date he resumed work. Pending the outcome of inquiries regarding the nature and origin of his injury he was paid disability benefit on an interim basis. On completion of these inquiries it was accepted that his incapacity for work arose out of his employment and his claim for injury benefit was allowed. The adjusting cheque for £4.65 which was issued on 19 October represented the difference between the amount of injury benefit payable and the amount of disability benefit which had been paid provisionally on the claim.
