Vol. 331 No. 9

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

610.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the delay of up to six months in the delivery of telephone hearing aid apparatus to partially deaf persons; and, if so, the reasons for the delay.

Yes. The main aid for the hard of hearing is the ampliphone which is a special telephone instrument with an amplifier and volume control. The existing ampliphone is being withdrawn and replaced by a modern electronic type. It is expected to have the new ampliphone available in about three months.
