Vol. 331 No. 9

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

611.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a person (details supplied) in Dublin who has been waiting three years for a telephone to be installed and who is aged 82 and living alone can expect to have the telephone installed.

About the middle of next year.

612.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be put in working order for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

(Wexford) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a subscriber (details supplied) in County Wexford who has changed residence.

About the middle of next year.

614.

(Wexford) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, arising out of the high level of demand for telephone service in the Coolock-Ayrfield area, Dublin, he intends to increase immediately the capacity of the Belcamp exchange or other adjacent exchanges to take full account of the domestic and commercial needs of the area.

A 6,000-line extension to Belcamp exchange will be brought into service about the middle of 1982 bringing its capacity to 14,000 lines. Together with the existing 10,000-line exchange in Coolock, this should be adequate to meet demand for some time.

616.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants for telephone service in each of the following areas: (a) Clonshaugh, Dublin 5 (b) Bonnybrook, Dublin 5 (c) Darndale, Dublin 5 (d) Donaghmede, Dublin 13 (e) Ayrfield, Dublin 13 (f) Tonlegee Road, Dublin 5 and (g) Edenmore, Dublin 5.

Records are not, I regret, maintained in a form that would enable this information to be obtained readily and its compilation would involve a disproportionate amount of staff time.

The number of applications for telephone service in the centres served by Coolock and Belcamp exchanges which include the areas indicated are: Coolock, 773; Belcamp, 628.
