Vol. 331 No. 10

Written Answers. - Cork Training Centre.

674.

asked the Minister for Health when work will commence on the development of Marymount training centre, Sunday's Well, Cork; and the reason for the delay in commencing this development.

The project at Marymount Training Centre was deferred in the first instance pending the submission of the final report of the task force on child care services. In the event the task force recommended that existing units which are effectively caring for very difficult older girls should continue this work given that such units were properly resourced. The proposed project at Marymount will be considered in the context of this recommendation. However, notwithstanding any decision made in principle, progress on the project will depend ultimately on the availability of the necessary financial resources.
