asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give details in respect of area and location of all areas and tracts of bogland (of over 200 acres) in the possession of the Land Commission in County Roscommon; and his attitude to private businesses who wish to lease, on long term, areas of such bogland for commercial peat production.

The information requested in the first part of the question is set out in the following table.

The question of disposing of the properties listed at (1), (3) and (5) to Bord na Móna is at present being examined.

The Land Commission are prepared to consider, on their merits, applications from private business firms who may wish to take long-term leases of the other two properties for the purpose of commercial peat production.
