Vol. 331 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) RTC.

7.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement on the proposed new regional technical college at Tallaght, County Dublin.

Negotiations for the acquisition of a site for a new regional technical college at Tallaght, County Dublin, are proceeding.

I am very conscious of the need for a regional technical college to serve this rapidly expanding town and wish to assure the Deputy that I will take all steps possible to expedite the early purchase of the site and the subsequent planning process.

Will the Minister tell the House what stage the negotiations are at in relation to the purchase of the site?

The negotiations are proceeding quite satisfactorily and I am hopeful it will be possible to have the site purchase arrangements completed in early 1982.

Are the negotiations going on pari passu with negotiations for Blanchardstown and the north side? We had already decided on the Dún Laoghaire and Bray area.

There is on the Order Paper a question in relation to the possible siting of an RTC at Blanchardstown and another northside location. It is Question No. 37.
