andMr. Conaghan asked the Minister for Finance the cross-Border projects in each of the five Border counties in respect of which EEC financial aid was applied for; the projects approved; and the amount of money spent on each since our entry into the EEC.

The cross-Border projects for which EEC financial aid was applied for and approved since our entry into the EEC were

(1) The Derry/Donegal Communication Study which was published in December 1977. The total cost of this study was £70,000 which was funded as follows:

European Regional Development Fund £35,000.

(2) The Erne Catchment Study which was published in June 1980. The total cost of the study was £80,000 which was funded as follows:

(3) Mourne Herring Fisheries Study which was published in May 1980. The total cost of the study was £130,000 which was funded as follows:

(4) The five year programme for the improvement of the economic and social situation of the Border areas of Ireland and Northern Ireland. A total commitment of 24 million ECU has been received in respect of the two programmes as follows:

Expenditure to date on the Irish programme is IR £1.4 million.

(5) There is a further scheme for cross-border drainage; information concerning this scheme was furnished to Deputy O'Hanlon on 24 November 1981.

asked the Minister for Finance the projects in each of the five Border counties which will be funded by the £4 million in the non-quota section of the Regional Fund for tourist purposes in 1981.

The total commitment of the non-quota section of the European Regional Fund to our Border area programme for 1981 is 3.2 million ECU (IR £2.2 million approximately).

The total provision in subhead J of the Vote for the Office of the Minister for Finance for the Special Border Area Programme Fund for 1981 is IR £4.1 million.

Of this sum IR £2.6 million is being allocated to the following tourism related projects:—

Development of Glenveagh National Park.

Drung/Moville.

Letterkenny/Church Hill/Gartan.

Ballybofey/Fintown.

Provision of amenities on the Shore Front

Provision of a Diving Board and amenity scheme at Roguey, Bundoran.

Renovation of Letterkenny old county council building to accommodate an exhibition centre

Improvement of access to National Monument at Beltary Raphoe.

Provision of Drumboe Walk (riverside walk) Ballybofey/Stranorlar.

Provision of seating, picnic area etc at Doon Well.

Restoration of Georgian House, Ramelton Phase I.

Provision of jetty/slipway at Woodquarter.

Provision of Riverside Walk at Kilmacrennan.

Provision of orientation board at Bamba's Crown (most northerly part of Ireland).
