Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Short-Time Working In Tullamore.

306.

andMr. Cowen asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he is aware of short-time working at a company (details supplied) in Tullamore, County Offaly; and if he will take the necessary action to have this rectified and ensure that this company will get the Government contracts for which they tendered recently.

Decisions as to the introduction of short-time working by any particular firm are for the management of that firm and I have no function in that respect.

Whilst I would hope that the workers affected will be able to return to full-time working before long, there is no special action I can take to that end.

As to the tenders referred to, I understand that these relate to contracts placed by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.

Question No. 307 postponed.
