Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

354.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a special road grant available again this year to complete the new link road from Boherbue, Tralee, to the Tralee-Listowel road via the sportsfield, County Kerry.

Grants totalling £400,000 have been allocated to this scheme including a grant of £200,000 in the current year.

355.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has any proposals for the payment of a subsidy to purchasers of private housing sites from housing authorities where the density of housing would be eight houses or more per acre.

A subsidy of one-third of the annual loan charges on borrowings up to £1,500 per site is payable to a housing authority for the provision of sites for the building of private houses. It is a normal condition of this subsidy that the density of sites in a county council area should not be less than eight per acre. In transferring the site to a purchaser the housing authority may allow a discount which takes account of the subsidy payable.
