I have seen the statement to which the Deputy refers but it is not clear from the report what particular aspects of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977, the director had in mind. The Act became fully operative on 1 May 1979. My Department are currently reviewing the operation of the Act, in consultation with the Department of Justice and the Garda.
