Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Non-Established Civil Servants.

487.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the positions previously held by non-established civil servants appointed by her and her Minister of State since 30 June, 1981.

I presume that the Deputy is not seeking information in respect of appointments made in the normal course (a) as a result of competitions conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners, and (b) to posts listed as scheduled occupations in the First Schedule to the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956 (for example, cleaner).

The information is as follows: Mr. John Long, Special Adviser to the Minister for Health and Social Welfare, was previously employed as Project Leader on the staff of the National Committee on Pilot Schemes to Combat Poverty.

Ms. Freda O'Connor, Personal Assistant to the Minister for Social Welfare, was previously employed as Secretary to the Minister when the Minister was a Member of the European Parliament.

Mr. Roy Dooney, Personal Assistant to the Minister of State at the Departments of Health and Social Welfare, was previously employed in a temporary capacity by CIE.
