Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Drainage Works.

560.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that severe hardship is being caused to farmers in the catchment area of the River Bonet, North Leitrim, because of the flooding of thousands of acres; whether he is further aware that an arterial drainage scheme for this area was promised by the last Coalition Government and that the scheme has already been planned and that it is capable of being started without delay; and whether he will make provision in the coming budget for the implementation of this scheme in 1982.

I am aware of the situation in regard to arterial drainage for the Bonet catchment area. I am not yet in a position to say whether work on a drainage scheme can start in 1982.
