Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - European Social Fund.

565.

asked the Minister for Labour the amount of the European Social Fund spent in Connacht-Ulster.

For Social Fund purposes Ireland is treated by the EEC as one region and it is therefore necessary to estimate the proportion of aid applicable to Connacht-Ulster.

The amount of aid approved for operations in Connacht-Ulster in 1981 is estimated at £11.24 millions. The amount of aid for operations in the area actually paid to date in 1981 is £6.96 million; this relates to operations in 1979 and 1980 and certain advance payments in respect of 1981 operations.
