Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Departmental Estimates.

633.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will state in respect of his Department the amount by which the January 1981 Estimates under-provided for charges known to have existed at the time of the approval of the Estimates by the then Government; and in the case of the shortfall in provisions in relation to basic pay if he will state the areas in which such shortfalls occurred and the number of weeks' basic pay which the shortfall constituted for each such area.

Minister for Foreign Affairs (Professor Dooge)

I would refer the Deputy to columns 1068-1078 of the Official Report of 3 December 1981 in which I detailed the amount of under-estimation in the 1981 Estimates for my Department. With regard to the second part of the Deputy's question the under-estimation in relation to pay represented 4.4 per cent of the total required for the year.
