Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

144.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will take steps to re-open the Garda station in Glanworth, County Cork.

The Garda authorities consider that the current policing arrangements for the Glanworth area provide a reasonably adequate service and that, given the proximity of the four Garda stations at Fermoy, Kildorrery, Castletownroche and Kilworth, the re-opening of a Garda station in Glanworth would not be warranted.

145.

asked the Minister for Justice the proposals he has for the provision of a new Garda Station at Tallaght, County Dublin.

It is proposed to erect a new Garda station in Tallaght to replace the existing one and negotiations with the county council for the provision of a suitable site for this purpose are at an advanced stage.

146.

asked the Minister for Justice when work will commence on improving the facilities at the Garda station, Donegal town.

The Office of Public Works has prepared plans for a major scheme of improvements to Donegal Garda Station and these have been approved by the Garda authorities and my Department. It is expected that work on this scheme will commence early next year.

Questions Nos. 147 and 148 postponed.
