Vol. 332 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tralee Driving Test Centre.

14.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide new office space for a driving test centre in Tralee, County Kerry.

Arrangements to provide a new premises for a driving test centre in Tralee are proceeding as expeditiously as possible in consultation with the Office of Public Works.

The Minister must be aware that the driving test centre in Tralee has been closed since January. My information is that the Office of Public Works suggested that the new driving test centre should be at the County Committee of Agriculture Offices.

Has the Deputy a question?

There would be general dissatisfaction about having the centre there because the road leading to it is too narrow. Would the Minister be prepared to consider a recommendation that has been made about the use of office premises at Princess Street across from which there is temporary parking space for 400 cars?

I do not know either of the locations concerned I cannot offer any views on them, but if the Deputy wishes to make a recommendation concerning the building he has in mind I will have the suggestion examined with a view to ascertaining whether those premises are suitable.
