Vol. 333 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Dublin Waste Disposal.

187.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will indicate in relation to the decision to locate a waste disposal centre at Brownsbarn, Baldonnell, County Dublin (a) whether the necessary land had been purchased and, if so, the price and (b) the discussions, if any, that took place between his Department and Dublin County Council.

The site in question will be used as a waste collection and treatment centre, and will not be used for the disposal of waste. The site of 13.6 acres has been purchased for £150,000 by the National Building Agency, which will be responsible for carrying out the necessary development works when plans have been prepared. There were no formal discussions with the county council but the project is subject to planning permission being obtained, and application for such permission will be made in due course.
