There are at present 679 Irish troops serving with the United Nations. There are 80 personnel at UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura and 572 in the Irish battalion territory which is situated on the south eastern part of the UNIFIL area.

A further 21 Officers are serving with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), an unarmed observer force, first set up in 1948, which observes Israel's boundaries with its neighbours. Of these officers, five are operating in the Lebanon, three out of Cairo, two out of Jerusalem, three out of Tiberias and eight out of Damascus.

There are also six troops serving with the United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) at the force headquarters in Nicosia.
