Vol. 333 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Multi-Lateral Agency Contracts.

25.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is satisfied with the relevance and the quality of work done by semi-State agencies under contracts awarded by multilateral agencies, for example the World Bank, EDF, to which Ireland contributes.

It is, of course, for the multilateral agency involved, whether it be the World Bank or any other, to satisfy itself as to the work being done under contract by various executing agencies, including Irish semi-State bodies. I have no reason to believe that the World Bank or the European Development Fund are other than fully satisfied with the relevance and quality of the work carried out to date by the Irish semi-State bodies who have been awarded contracts by these and other multilateral agencies.

Is the Minister satisfied about this?

I am satisfied by the Department that there is no reason to be dissatisfied. I am satisfied on the advice available to me.
