Vol. 334 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Barracks Housing Programme.

18.

asked the Minister for Defence the present position in relation to the housing replacement programme at Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin; the number of housing units involved; the type (number of rooms); the cost; and the estimated programme or work.

Twelve flats at present being built at the barracks are expected to be completed by the end of this summer. Each of them will have a lounge, a kitchen/diningroom and a bathroom. Four will have four bedrooms each and eight will have three bedrooms. They are the first phase of a five-phase programme to replace all the old married quarters at the barracks with a total of 68 new dwellings.

It would be contrary to established practice to disclose the price payable under the contract for the building of the 12 flats. The planning of the second phase of the programme is now being undertaken.
