Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Cork Flooding.

357.

asked the Minister for Finance whether in the light of the havoc caused in recent years by flood waters in Bandon town, County Cork which resulted in heavy financial losses to shopkeepers and householders, he will now have the Office of Public Works carry out a detailed survey of the Bandon river and prepare a scheme to reduce the flooding.

The Bandon river is on the priority list of major catchments to be considered for treatment under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. At this stage, however, due to existing commitments and the drainage problem generally throughout the country I could not say when the Bandon might be reached in the drainage programme.
