Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

683.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to pay unemployment benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Entitlement to unemployment benefit is subject to the statutory contribution condition that a claimant must have at least 26 contributions paid or credited in the relevant governing contribution period. The person concerned claimed unemployment benefit from 8 February 1982 and her claim was governed by her contribution record during the period 6 April 1980 to 5 April 1981. During this period she had no contributions either paid or credited and her unemployment benefit claim was accordingly disallowed. She ceased to register as unemployed after 23 February 1982.
