asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the facts of a case (details supplied) in Ballyfermot, Dublin he will grant the applicant priority for a telephone and, if so, when a telephone service will be provided.

Service will be provided on a priority basis as soon as possible. Regrettably, however, the necessary cabling work is unlikely to be completed until about the end of the year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Dublin was interviewed for the post of trainee installer in his Department last June and so far has heard nothing; whether the applicant was successful; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware that the person named was interviewed for appointment as trainee installer in my Department. He did not obtain a high enough position on the order of merit in the competition to be offered appointment; he has been informed accordingly.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the additional engineering work, involving cabling, which is necessary to enable telephone applications to be met in the Piercetown area of Dunboyne, County Meath will be carried out.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3, who was granted a free rental allowance by his Department for a year and a half and who is still waiting for service; and if priority will be given to this applicant as the circumstances are urgent.

Regrettably, however, it is unlikely that the necessary cabling work can be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the anxiety expressed by persons (details supplied) in Dublin who are greatly disatisfied with accounts which they received recently; and if he will arrange that they be interviewed at an early opportunity so that this matter can be resolved satisfactorily.

So far as I am aware, there is no current correspondence from either subscriber about his account. The Department is, of course, anxious to help subscribers who have difficulties over their accounts, and if the two subscribers in question call to the Telephone Accounts Inquiries Office at 27 North Frederick St., Dublin 1, every effort will be made to resolve whatever problems they may have.
