Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Transport Service.

793.

asked the Minister for Education if school transport to Carrabane national school in County Galway will be provided for pupils (details supplied).

Having regard to the terms of the free transport scheme, services are so organised as to cater primarily for eligible pupils. Pupils who are not eligible for free transport may only be catered for incidentally, on a fare-paying basis, subject to spare accommodation being available. Tickets are issued on a first come, first served basis.

The pupils in question here are not eligible for free transport since they live less than two miles from Carrabane school. In view of the current loading of the vehicle, it is only possible to offer one concessionary ticket to this family at present.
