Vol. 334 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

913.

(Waterford) asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant for the installation of windows will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

As the works in this case commenced within ten years of the payment of a new house grant, a house improvement grant would only be payable for the limited categories of work stipulated in the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended). The work carried out does not come within these categories and a grant cannot, therefore, be allowed.

914.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will now make arrangements to have a home improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 31 December 1981.

915.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a disabled person's extension grant to a person (details supplied) in Ballyfermot, Dublin; and when the grant will be paid.

As the payment of disabled persons' grants is a matter entirely for the local housing authority the information requested is not available in my Department.

916.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in carrying out an inspection for a person (details supplied) in County Meath in relation to a grant which is not a new house grant as stated in a reply to a Parliamentary Question which Deputy Farrelly received recently.

There was no delay in carrying out an inspection in this case.

917.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Meath has been refused a grant for his building extension.

A grant in respect of the provision of a bathroom and a bedroom cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 29 March 1982.

A grant in respect of the provision of water and sewerage facilities will be paid if and when an inspection establishes that the relevant works have been completed. The inspection will be arranged when the applicant notifies completion of the works.

918.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in carrying out an inspection for a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

There has been no undue delay by my Department in dealing with this case. The file is with the inspector for a report, with a view to payment of a grant, if in order. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.
