Vol. 334 No. 9

Written Answers. - Appointment of Ambassador.

428.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if it is his intention to assign an ambassador to the German Democratic Republic; if this has been requested; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In November 1980 Ireland and the German Democratic Republic agreed to exchange diplomatic representatives at Ambassador level on a non-resident basis. The German Democratic Republic accredited their Ambassador in London to Ireland on 15 October 1981. The appointment of an ambassador from Ireland to the German Democratic Republic is under consideration.
